29.10.05 - ASMAT EL OUARGUI PLAYER PROFILE

With a break from Academy action this weekend we bring you John Landamore's latest player profile, taking a look at Asmat El Ouargui.

The Danish striker has settled in well at Colney and has scored four goals in this season's Academy League as well as appearing for the Reserves.

The review features comments from Ricky Martin and the obligatory question and answer session. Look out for more profiles throughout the season.

23.10.05 - LAST GASP WINNER FOR CHARLTON

Norwich City's Under-18 side went down 2-1 to Charlton Athletic yesterday, again it was a late goal which condemned City to defeat.

City went ahead in the first half through Asmat El Ouargui following good work by Bally Smart, before a disputed penalty saw Charlton draw level before half-time. City were probably worth a point but it was not to be.

20.10.05 - QUAYE INJURY UPDATE

Alvin Quaye
Alvin Quaye
Academy Manager Ricky Martin has told FONCY that first year scholar Alvin Quaye suffer a fractured ankle during the Under-18 game against his old club West Ham last Saturday.

Alvin has had an operation, the ankle has been pinned and at the time of writing he is currently back at home. Alvin should return to Norwich next week where he will be under the expert eye of Academy Physio Rod Dyer.

At this time it is too early to say how long Alvin will be on the sidelines but we will of course keep you up to date on his progress.

In the meantime we feel all City supporters will join FONCY in wishing Alvin a full and speedy recovery.

16.10.05 - QUAYE INJURY OVERSHADOWS DEFEAT

Norwich City's Under-18 side went down 1-0 to West Ham yesterday with a goal two minutes time winning it for the Hammers as an end-to-end game looked like finishing goalless.

The match was overshadowed by a serious looking ankle injury sustained by Alvin Quaye who later went to hospital for an x-ray. We wish Alvin a quick recovery.

Many thanks to our friends from West Ham fanzine "The Ironworks Gazette" for the full report and photos which can be viewed by clicking here or on the picture right.

Scotland Under-19's have gone through to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Championships after winning their first two group games in Switzerland over the weekend.

Andrew Cave-Brown started both games as the Scots beat Andorra 5-0 and Finland 1-0. Tuesday's game against hosts Switzerland is somewhat academic with both teams already qualified as the top two in the group.

The second qualifying round will be played in the new year with the finals being staged in Poland in the summer. England Under-19's, with Joe Lewis, have a bye to the second round.

09.10.05 - JOE LEWIS PLAYER PROFILE

John Landamore's latest player profile takes a look at Joe Lewis.

The talented keeper is currently away with England Under-19s and played on Friday in a 2-1 defeat against the Czech Republic. By all accounts Joe was powerless to prevent the Czechs scoring two deflected second-half goals and pulled off a spectacular save at the end of the game.

The review features comments from David Williams and the obligatory question and answer session. Look out for more profiles throughout the season.
