21.12.06 - CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

Everyone at FONCY would like to take this opportunity to wish all our supporters and visitors to our website a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Academy is currently having its traditional extended Christmas break and so news from Colney will be limited over the festive period. We will be back early in January with a report from the first Academy Under-18 game of the New Year and (we hope) an exclusive report from an indoor tournament for the Under-11's in Germany. Then of course there is the Youth Cup game at Newcastle to look forward to. Watch this space!

Thank you all very much for your support over the past twelve months, we look forward to another good year in 2007.

20.12.06 - GOOD LUCK KEITH

Everyone at Friends Of Norwich City Youth would like to wish Keith Webb all the very best as he takes up his new role as manager of Kings Lynn.

When FONCY was formed back in 1996, Keith was of course youth team coach and as such he was always available to help out when we were in our infancy.

It should be remembered that several players came through the ranks whilst Keith was at the helm and many of those have gone on to do very well in the game, Craig Bellamy and Robert Green to name but two, and let us not forget Jason Shackell, who Peter Grant has singled out as a future captain for The Canaries.

Once again we would like to thank him for all his efforts at Norwich City and wish him all the very best with The Linnets.

City's Under-18 squad travelled down to the South Coast yesterday to prepare for this evening's Youth Cup match at Portsmouth (7pm).

City last met Portsmouth in a friendly at Colney at the beginning of the 2005/06 season (match report). Looking back further there were regular encounters in South East Counties League days at youth level.
Portsmouth beat Orient at home on Saturday to show that they are finding their form ahead of tonight's big game. However their keeper received a red-card in that match and it was unclear on Monday whether he would be available for tonights game.

We wish the Canaries good luck as they fight for the right to travel to Newcastle United in the fourth round.

10.12.06 - ARNOLD SHINES BUT GUNNERS WIN

Norwich Under-18's lost 1-0 against Arsenal on Saturday at Colney in their last Academy League match of 2006.

Keeper Steve Arnold kept Norwich in the game with several top class saves but in the end Arsenal were not to be denied with a second-half penalty determining the result of the match.

Today's F.A. Newcastle were 4-0 winners at Exeter City last week in the 3rd round.

City's match at Portsmouth on Wednesday December 13th kicks off at 7pm.

07.12.06 - COLIN WATTS INTERVIEW

John Landamore recently took the opportunity to grab a few words with Youth Development Officer Colin Watts. Colin seems to have been at Colney a lifetime now and John was interested to find out how it all came about (and a lot more).

It turned into a good discussion and is an interview that every Academy fan should find interesting.

Finally a reminder that Declan Rudd will join up with England Under-16's for the deciding Sky Sports Victory Shield game against Scotland in York this Friday December 8th (8.05 pm, live on Sky Sports). England need a win to secure the shield for a second year.
