26.05.07 - THE LORD MAYOR OF NORWICH
Roy Blower
Roy Blower
We feel sure that all our supporters will join us in congratulating FONCY Vice-Chairman Roy Blower on his appointment as Lord Mayor of Norwich. Although it had been rumoured for some time, the official announcement saw Roy take up his position earlier this week.

Roy was of course in from the very beginning as far as FONCY was concerned, when Norwich City Chairman Roger Munby suggested that Roy would be a valuable asset to the committee.

That has very clearly been the case as FONCY Chairman John Landamore takes up the story. "Having been dropped in at the deep end by Gordon Bennett when he invited me to form FONCY, it was a blessing to have Roy on board as Vice Chairman as his experience was invaluable to me in those early days."
Of course Roy's involvement with the football club goes back a lot further than FONCY and many people will know him better through his work as Chairman of NCISA.

It is however his work in the local community that has brought him this fantastic honour and we hope you will all join us and wish him well in his year in office.

20.05.07 - UNDER-13's IN DENMARK

An young Under-13 squad represented Norwich at this year's Norhalne Cup in Denmark which ran from Thursday to Saturday.

While they were unable to emulate the feats of the side from two years ago who won the competition, they did finish a creditable fourth place, only losing once in normal time.

20.05.07 - INTERNATIONAL UPDATE

Norwich will not be represented at this year's UEFA Under-19 Championships in Austria. Two defeats for England earlier this week against Russia and Holland mean England, with Rossi Jarvis and Chris Martin, have failed to qualify in their group.

For the Republic of Ireland, with Michael Spillane in defence, the group went to the last game and although Ireland beat Hungary 2-0 yesterday evening, Germany's victory against Bulgaria sent them through at the top of the group played out in Dublin.

19.05.07 - THREE SCHOLARS SIGN PROFESSIONAL TERMS
Bally Smart
Just weeks after Chris Martin signed his first professional contract with The Canaries comes the news that a further three second year scholars have put pen to paper on their first professional contracts.

After making his debut for the first team when he came on as a second-half substitute against Burnley at Turf Moor, South African born striker Bally Smart has put pen to paper before returning to South Africa for the closed season. It has been a memorable couple of weeks for Bally who was elected FONCY player of the season, picking up his award from FONCY committee member Colin Tovell at the club's Open Day.
Joining Bally in the pro ranks at the start of the 2007/08 season will be yet another former FONCY player of the year in the shape of Patrick Bexfield who picked up his award at the end of the 2005/2006 campaign.

Pat has been involved with both the Under-18's and the reserves for most of the season and has come in and done an excellent job in a number of roles for both David Williams and Ricky Martin who took charge of the reserves after Keith Webb moved on to Kings Lynn.

Last and by certainly no means least is goalkeeper Steve Arnold. Steve's reward for a superb season was to pick up the clubs award for youth team player of the season and he followed that up by joining Pat and Bally by signing his first pro contract.
Patrick Bexfield
Everyone at FONCY would like to wish all three players all the very best in their professional careers at Norwich City.

At the same time FONCY would like to wish Seb Muddel, Jamie Eames and Alvin Quaye all the very best for their future after it was announced all three would be released at the end of their scholarship.
