26.08.07 - RUDD IN ENGLAND ACTION Academy keeper Declan Rudd joins up with England's new Under-17 squad this week for a Nationwide International Tournament against Northern Ireland, Turkey and Italy. While last season's squad are still taking part in the U17 World Cup in Korea, this year's squad gather to prepare for the upcoming UEFA qualifiers. The warm-up tournament takes place in and around London with the first game on Wednesday against Northern Ireland in Brentford (7.45pm). A City Academy side paid their annual visit to Beccles last night to contest the Jack Constance Cup and it was a team mainly consisting of Under-16's who regained the cup with a 6-1 victory. The weekend saw the Under-18 Academy teams, supported by members of the Under-16 squad, complete two friendlies against local youth team opposition. Kings Lynn were the visitors on Friday evening with the Canaries winning 11-0, while Great Yarmouth provided Saturday morning's oppostion in a game that finished 12-1. 05.08.07 - SMART DOUBLE SECURES WIN A Norwich XI consisting of young professionals and Academy scholars won a friendly 3-0 at Dereham Town on Saturday afternoon. For the full match report with photos click here or on the photo left. The Under-18's next game is on Friday evening. That evening's game against Kings Lynn has now been moved to Colney with a 6.30pm kick-off. A mixed U16/U18 team will play Great Yarmouth, also at Colney, the following day. Meanwhile the annual Jack Constance Cup match at Beccles has been set for Wednesday 15th August. |
