Norwich Under-18's went down 2-1 at Crystal Palace on Saturday morning. The turning point in the game was a nasty looking knee injury for central defender Paul McLean after Jordan Yong had put Norwich ahead. We wish Paul a speedy recovery, along with several other injured Academy players at Colney. The match saw an Academy League debut for ex-Arsenal schoolboy Ahmad Abdillahi, who trialled in a few friendly games at the start of the season. It was a successful start for Micheal, who played at centre-back, as the Under-21's won a friendly in Sweden 3-2. The young Canary made one particularly spectacular goalline clearance onto the bar to deny the Swedes a certain goal. Michael now faces the exciting propect of being involved in Tuesday's Under-21 European qualifier against England in Cork. |

12.10.07 - JED STARTS FOR ENGLAND Academy Under-16 goalkeeper Jed Steer was in action for England Under-16's last night against Northern Ireland in the Sky Sports Victory Shield. Jed could do nothing to stop the game finishing 2-2, being beaten by a penalty and an injury-time effort. Jed was called into action several times including a fine last minute save after the equaliser. England's next game in the competition could potentially see Jed come up against Josh Dawkin when they take on Wales in Telford on November 2nd. |

Academy Under-16 midfielder David Stephens has helped Wales Under-17's through to the next qualifying round of the UEFA Europen Championships. Wales won games against Andorra (1-0), San Marino (4-1) before drawing with Spain 2-2 to go through to the next round in the new year. Meanwhile Josh Dawkin had a lively run-out for Wales Under-16's in the Victory Shield in front of the live Sky Sports camera's on friday evening. Josh was substituted a few minutes from time against Scotland and just had enough time to take his place on the bench to see a last minute 35-yard winner for the Welsh and a 1-0 success. |
