18.11.07 - INTERNATIONAL UPDATE
Danny Kelly
Danny Kelly
In the end it was Gareth Matthews and Danny Kelly who travelled to Germany last week with the Republic of Ireland Under-18 squad for two friendlies.

The first game was lost 4-0 but the second game saw Ireland record a fine victory, 3-2, against a team containing many from last season's German Under-17 squad who finished third in the World Championships. Danny Kelly had a good run out in both games but Matthews pulled up after only 20 minutes of the first match with groin problems to add to Ricky Martin's injury list. They were joined in the squad by ex-Canary Kurtis Byrne.
Elsewhere Michael Spillane was an unused substitute for Ireland Under-21's against Montenegro and Jed Steer has been called up for England Under-16's final Victory Shield match against Scotland in Falkirk on November 29th.

12.11.07 - CHANCE MEETING IN PLYMOUTH

FONCY Committee member Richard Bland reports on a chance meeting which brought back memories during an otherwise depressing trip to Plymouth at the weekend.

Former Norwich Youth supremo and chief executive Gordon Bennett is now in Plymouth and ten years ago had a lot to do with the formation of FONCY.

04.11.07 - INJURY UPDATE
Injured Trio
Injured Trio
At Saturday’s game against West Ham FONCY Chairman John Landamore caught up with the three long term Academy injured to see how they are progressing.

Kris Renton flew in from Scotland on Friday and is in Norwich until Monday when he will have an x-ray on his leg to see how it is progressing. Although he will be sidelined for several months, Kris was in good spirits and he hopes to be back to Colney again soon.

Also injured in that game at Chelsea was keeper Declan Rudd, who has had to be operated on for damaged medial ligaments. Declan looks to be out until January and will miss City’s first F.A.Youth Cup game which will probably take place later this month or early December.
The third of the trio is Nick Davey who broke a bone in his foot in training. The good news on that front is that Nick should be back in training next week.

04.11.07 - NORWICH STUNNED BY STANISLAS
Norwich Under-18's went down 1-0 to West Ham at Colney on Saturday morning, the first game in which the Academy side has failed to score all season. Junior Stanislav scored West Ham's winner immediately after half-time.

Norwich gave Academy debuts to two Tottenham scholars in the form of defender Ajet Shehu and England Under-16 international Saulo Asajile.
