As we continue to introduce the lads who have just joined the Academy as scholars at the start of the season, we take a look at Damon Lathrope. Academy manager Ricky Martin pointed out that this is the second time that he has signed Damon, as Ricky signed him some years ago when he was involved at Cambridge United. When the news came that The U's youth set up was being wound down, Ricky was quick off the mark to offer Damon the opportunity to sign for Norwich. Damon has already been involved in a couple of Under-18 games last season as well as playing in trial games where he showed that he has an eye for goal and is certainly not afraid to try his luck from distance. Ricky believes that he will be an asset to this season's squad. "I was delighted to secure Damon when it became clear what was happening at Cambridge United. We had to work fast however, as Damon was being watched by a couple of Premiership sides, so you can see we are pleased that he has joined us at Colney", said Ricky. "Damon has developed well since I first signed him some five years ago. He is comfortable on the ball and always looking to be involved and certainly has an eye for goal". Q+A with Damon Lathrope 1.
