Luke Daley

Luke Daley in action

Luke is set to join The Academy on as a scholar at the start of 2006/07 season, although he has been involved with the Under-18's for the biggest part of the 2005/06 campaign just past - even coming on as a substitute in the F.A.Youth Cup game against Chelsea at Carrow Road back in December.

That was not his first appearance in the competition as he was also used as a substitute as an Under- 15 the previous season in the cup game against Southampton at St. Mary's.

For Luke this is his second spell at The Academy, having been released when he was an Under-12, only to be recalled when he was an Under-14.

At the time Luke lived in Sheringham, however the family moved to Northampton, and this meant that Luke could only train at weekends and during school holidays.

However that all changed in October 2005 as Academy Manager Ricky Martin explains. "We decided to invite Luke to move to Norwich where we put him with one of our landladys and he has been attending Hethersett High School. It has clearly had a big impact on his football as he now has a day by day contact with the club and the Under-18 squad, and there is no doubt that this has enhanced his football."

Speaking to Ricky this is the first time since he has been in charge of The Academy that the club has invited a schoolboy to move into club digs and judging by the progress Luke is making it is indeed beneficial to all concerned.
