Mark O'Toole

Mark O'Toole

Mark made his first start for David Williams' Under-18 side in the match against Bristol City at Colney last season along with fellow schoolboy Damon Lathrope.

After he impressed during a couple of trial games for the Under-16's last season Mark was offered a contract by Norwich to join The Academy as a scholar at the start of 2006/07. Mark has also gained international experience, playing alongside Michael Spillane for the Republic Of Ireland Under-17's in the Algarve Tournament.

Academy Manager Ricky Martin first saw Mark over a year ago when he was in Ireland watching Michael play.

"Mark caught my eye when I first saw him play for the Republic and of course I saw him again over the course of the season whenever we played Spurs." said Ricky. "As soon as it became apparent that Spurs would not be offering him a scholarship, we made some enquires and Mark came and did well enough in the trial games for us to offer him terms here at Norwich."

Mark plays at left back and judging by his early performances he looks very comfortable on the ball. Although Ricky believes there are defensive duties that Mark will need to work hard on, the early signs are that Mark will be a welcome addition to The Academy.
