Patrick Bexfield

Patrick came into the club as a scholar at the start of the current campaign after Ricky Martin had brought him over from Cambridge when he was an Under-13.

Patrick has made twelve starts at Academy level (December 2005) which makes him joint top with striker Seb Muddel and like most of the first-years he has already stepped up to Reserve Team level.

Many of his outings for David Williams' side have come with Patrick playing in a defensive role in either of the full back positions and not as you might expect in his favoured midfield slot. David insists that there is a good reason for this.

"Patrick is physically a late developer, but judging by the size of his Dad Mark he will catch up" said David.

"The physical demands of a midfield player can be great and by playing Patrick at full back or down the flanks it does keep him away from the hurly burly in midfield. I do however see him becoming a midfield player and the reasons for that are that he is a footballer and he does read the game well and there is no doubt that he is a tough character for his size. Some of the other members of the squad could take a leaf out of his book when it comes to making a strong challenge."

1. Which team did you support as a boy and who was your boyhood hero?
At one time it was Spurs but later it was my home club of Cambridge United. My hero would have to be David Ginola

Making my debut for The Reserves against Portsmouth at Fratton Park
3. Who has been the biggest influence on your career to date?
Mum and Dad, who since I was an Under-13 has brought me over from Cambridge for training two or three times a week.
4. What are your hopes for the 2005-06 season?
To continue to play for the Under-18's and start as many Reserve Team games as possible.
5. Away from football how do you like to spend your time?
I like to spend time on the computer as well as chilling out with the Willis family.
6. If you had not become an Academy Scholar what do you imagine you would now be doing?
I have not really considered not playing football and if I was not at Norwich I think I would be at another club.
