Steve was introduced to Norwich by Terry Harvey, who is a youth scout for Norwich covering Hertfordshire and the surrounding area. Whilst playing Sunday league football for Boreham Wood, Steve was invited to Arsenal to play for their Under-15's. This he did for around six months and while The Gunners were keen on Steve, they decided not to offer him a scholarship. Steve had several offers including one from Norwich and after completing a successful trial period Steve joined The Canaries just as the 2005/06 campaign kicked off. During the season David Williams admitted that Steve had had limited outings for the Under-18's predicted that that was about to change. "Steve has played most of his football so far this season at Under-16 level, but as Joe Lewis now plays more and more games for the Reserves we can give Steve the opportunity to turn out for the Under-18's." Indeed Steve did go on to make more appearances in the second-half of the season. In particular he will have been pleased with a fine display at his old club Arsenal where he earned the Canaries a point in a 0-0 draw under the watchful eye of Arsene Wenger.
