Thanks to FONCY sponsorship the Academy were able to send several sides to tournaments in Brtian and abroad during 2001/02.
The younger age groups took part in festivals at Watford and Kimbolton while the Under-14's took part in an excellent Reebok Tournament at Keele University together with the likes of Liverpool and also Bayer Leverkusen from Germany.
Success in The Northern Ireland Milk Cup at Under-15 level was the news of the season at youth level while the Under-19's travelled to the Netherlands for the Maastad Tournament. Further details of these two competitions now follow.
2001 Northern Ireland Milk Cup - Under 15's
The Under-15's represented Norwich in Northern Ireland this year in what was, as ever, a large and well organised tournament. In the qualification stage Norwich got past Coventry City and a New York XI. A tight quarter-final against Everton was won by the odd goal in five before two Lee Catchpole goals secured victory in the semi-final against a Republic of Ireland XI after the Canaries had gone 1-0 down.
The final was decided by a "golden goal" from Ryan Jarvis who was also nominated Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament.
The wining of the prestigious Milk Cup was a superb achievement for this Under-15 squad. Later they did a lap of honour at Carrow Road before the pre-season friendly against Arsenal.

2001 Spaartan Under-18 Youth Tournament
An Under-19 squad, including schoolboys Ryan Jarvis and Danny crow who had won the Milk Cup a few weeks earlier, travelled to Rotterdam to take part in the Spaartan tournament. Academy director Sammy Morgan and coach Ady Boothroyd led the party accompanied by physio Kieran Barnard.
City only failed to qualify for the final on the basis of less goals scored following a tough group competition and lost the third-place play-off on penalties. Aaron Lee-Barrett was voted best goalkeeper in the tournament.
